Moving to AUS from US. Will my Pressario v2030 work?

Jan 14, 2005 5:15AM PST

I am jsut getting familiar with the different power/voltage between the two countries. Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation. Should I be purchasing a converter or an inverter to handle the power difference?

Look at the power adapter.

Most are marked... 100 to 240 VAC and 50-60 Hz.

If so, you'll do fine.

Hi JMarc,
I live in Sydney Ausralia, and recently spent three months in Manhatten NY. The power config's were fine, however, you will probably need to purchase a power cord adaptor, to plug into the wall as the wall connections are different here in Aus. Unless you know exactly what the Aust standard is, I wouldn't worry about it until you get here. Pick one up at the airport when you arrive.

Have a great time in Australia Happy.

See DV1000forums.com for your Compaq V2000 series

Jmarc:

if you haven't already done so join DV1000forums.com which is the site of the HPDV1000 and Compaq V2000 series worldwide.

Unfortuantely, I don't think your model has the built in remote control in the PC card slot the HPDV1000 has but otherwise they are the same notebook.

If your A/C adaptor brick cords are the same as mine (on my Compaq X1000/HPZT3000 -- X1000forums.com) the cord from the brick to the wall is removable -- you would ideally want to just order the US version of that cord only -- you do not need to replace the A/C adaptor or the fixed cord going to the notebook itself.

Then, when you return to Australia just plug in the Australia cord extension.

I would treat it just as you would any other electronics that you are bringing which plug into wall outlets.
