Resolved Question

Moving the tracker server to a VPS

Sep 18, 2012 10:00AM PDT

Hi friends!

I need a help from you.

One of my friend is running a private tracker.

Now he is moving the tracker from the current host to a VPS.

He needs help on how to setup it?

Can anyone help me on it?

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean like a GPS tracker?

But with that aside. Such tracking software is custom so you have to work with the author or the company that made it to see if it can go on a virtual private server. The steps can't be exact but in the case of the GPS tracker I know of, you install it, restore the databases and then publish the new site address with the new DNS entries.

All basic web stuff but once in a while you find folk that don't do this.

Nope this is not a GPS tracker.

This is a torrent tracker.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

One of my friend is running a torrent site.

It has been hosted on a shared server.

Now he is planning to move it to a VPS.

And, he wants help on how to do it?

Hope I have provided enough details now.

So you're asking for help

Now that we know a little more.

Why don't that just install it and the data onto the VPS and launch it? Here it matters not if the server is dedicated or on a VPS. At the end of the day the idea is that they work the same. That is, my apps on either type install the same and work the same way.

The host site should have made that clear.

Problem is solved now Happy

The problem was he didn't have a cpanel on his previous host.

So, that he couldn't do any administrative functions.

Now, he had moved to a dedicated server with the cpanel and the job is done.

Thank you very much again for both of you.

Have a nice time!

Happy

I would not have guessed that it was simply they didn't have the usual tools.
