Moving saved mail

Mar 6, 2005 3:20AM PST

To free up a great deal of space on my OE6 boxes, I am planning to move the contents of all or many "Saved Mail" folders by copying them to a folder in my My Documents", followed by cleaning them all from the server by deleting the originals from my client's folders.

I know that I can drag each message from the mailbox to a desktop folder. But please tell me if I can do the messages in a group instead of only one-at-a-time. To do the entire contents of a Saved Mail folder, is it proper to use CTRL+A, Copy, and Paste the group (into the destination folder)?

Doing the chosen messages one-at-a-time would take alot of time since I have more than 1,000 saved messages, including many in the Inbox, in my OE6 folders.

click on the top email

Then click edit and select all (all emails will be highlighted)

Left click cut and then open the folder you want them in

Then left click edit and paste. Presto they are all now in the folder

Hope this helps

Reading Saved Mail Offline
Mar 6, 2005 5:13PM PST

After moving these messages to the new folders, will I only be able to later fully read the complete HTMLs (all text and images) offline if I've already opened/downloaded them earlier while online? IOW, will I have to first download any HTML mail online before later fully re-opening them offline?

I'll go ahead and move every text message and every "already read" html doc out of the mailbox now, but if I must open/download the HTMLs, it will take time since I still have more than 800 unread messages in my inbox.

Thank You

full email

The full email will be there if you opened it while online.

Some emails use links to display images when you open them, so that the email will be smaller in size when sent.

If you need the images, then you'll have to open the newsletters before moving or be online when you open these

After opening (while connected) all html messages in one of my folders, I selected all and was going to cut/paste them to a My Docs folder. But the Edit menu of OE6 has no Cut command and its Copy command, when trying to copy a collection of messages, is shaded out.

Although there is neither a Copy nor Cut option in the Edit menu, should the shortcuts of Alt+Space+C or Alt+Space+X still work on copying or moving multiple messages?
