Moving from Win 98 to XP

Mar 15, 2004 4:14PM PST

I currently use Win98SE and I'm about to buy a new PC. Has anyone here moved from Win98SE to XP? How did it go and which OS do you prefer? I've read that XP has more security issues.

I haven't had any problems. I like the stability of XP. Plus, I like having a better, faster more powerful computer.

A new machine better have SP1 and the patches installed and that's 99% of the security issues.

I can't use Windows 98/ME anymore because of two things I do. Some Eclipse programming tools and video editing. Besides that there is no more "free resources" issue, no 4GB file size limit and other limits...

How about moving from a VW to a Rolls Royce?

Well, maybe not that good, but as Jonah says, super stable, and tons of utilities.

As Robert mentioned about security, make sure you visit the Windows update site often.

You'll love it.
