Question

Moving Abroad - New Laptop or New Charger?

Jul 28, 2015 4:54AM PDT

I am hoping to move to Germany soon. I love my HP laptop as it has lots of power, and I would rather not have to sell it and buy a new one just because the outlets are different in Germany. Does anyone know if I can just purchase a new charger when I get there, and be good? Thanks!

taking any other appliances?

we had some in Greece and a used 1000w transformer 220 to 110 was a life saver for some other more powerful electrical appliance needs, like some power tools I took over with me.

Almost all are marked 100 to 240 VAC and 50/60 Hz. Check that out.

Thanks. I would rather not use plug converters, so I guess what I'm asking is: can I buy a different power cable and will that suffice?

Sorry

I can't tell from the info so far. If the adapter has the rating as noted and changeable mains power cord you would not have asked. So I'm guessing you have a 110 only adapter?

we had transformers we used. Could provide same voltage, but at 50 cycles instead of 60. No problems really. Also some chargers can run both 110 or 220, but you'll need a cheap flat prong to pin prong adapter to plug into the German 220v power. This video brings back memories....
