Movies not playing

Jan 20, 2004 6:47AM PST

I just installed a RW+- Dvd Burner...I loaded all the software for it. I am using DVD XCopy, & Power DVD
programs on a Windows XP machine. I backup the movies with no problem but, when I go to play them I get a
"Disc with an unsupported format in drive D" error.
Any suggestions?

AFAIK, the resulting DVD is for use in a DVD player such as what you connect on many TV sets... As to why it won't play on the PC, you need to ask 123?

I had the same problem and e-mailed support. The answer I got was I was not using the proper DVD, i.e. I had a DVD-R or DVD-RW when my drive only supported DVD+R and DVD+RW. When I got the proper disks it worked. One other thing I also had a problem (once) with a DVD+R and after rebooting the machine and retrying it worked.

Go figure

Re:Movies not playing- Depending on the manufacturer...

I have a Sony DVD burner. Before I was able to play a backed-up DVD, I had to put in a retail DVD to set the region code- which the allowed me to playback region-free DVDs (the backups). Check your documentation for recommended media, etc. Aside from that, I dunno. Good luck.

May be a dumb question, but are you using the right speed disk for the burner? Or is your burner set to the disk speed?
