The downside is that it is REAL TIME!!!! No other way to do it faster, sorry.
You could get DVD recorder that has a firewire port(this is what Sony calls IEEE) and go directly to DVD, it will still be real time but when you done you will the finished DVD.
Vista in a memory HOG!!!!! You need at least 2gb for it to run at 90% of the speed that Windows XP will run at. John
Hi folks, I have hours and hours of hi-8 tapes from which I have been using movie maker (MM) to transfer these from a digital sony hi8 camcorder via the Sony IEEE data cord to my HP pavillion running vista premium.
Sorry if these questions are too basic. As new member of AARP, I can't stay on top of technology like I used to!
Question: How can I get better quality since the resolution from these hi8 is good but after movie maker is done, MM says it is only 720x680 or something?
Would I better off using a DVD recorder to capture these.
Would adding another gig of memory to the Pavillion speed up this transfer since it take nearly two hours to burn the DVD.
Thank folks, Mike
