moved songs from ipod to itunes...lost info

Feb 11, 2015 2:16AM PST

I moved a bunch of songs from my ipod to my new computer. For some reason, itunes grouped the songs into strange combinations (multiple artists in each fl=older) and gave each song a random, 4-letter name. (ATRW, BUDF, etc...). Now only the artist name made the transfer - no song names, no artwork.

*** is wrong with Apple? No customer service, no help at website....

Anyone know what I can do, short of manually naming each song?

the music was transferred.

iPod to Computer is not a method supported by Apple.

One wonders why you did not do it in the way that Apple recommends:

Or you could have used your backup.

So probably not Apple's fault at all.

Oh well...

One has to wonder why Apple doesn't support this method. They intentionally make it very difficult to move songs I have purchased from one device to another.....so probably Apple's fault.

Very disappointing, especially considering the amount of money I have spent on Apple products. I was unable to get help directly from Apple or even their discussion forums (unavailable).

The issue of ipod to machine is on the web.

But in short, the owners of the music have made it pretty tough to get where we are today. DRM is still there at times and if it was too easy to transfer titles from ipod/phone to other devices then piracy would be a trivial exercise. Folk might think that since it was easy that it was OK.

Transferring an iTunes collection has supported methods but folk for one reason or another continue to try to move it via an ipod/phone in an unsupported method. Some will complain about that.
