Question

Moved house and tv won't find any channels

Apr 2, 2018 1:02PM PDT

I just moved house and I connected my tv using a standard ariel lead from the wall socket to my tv, re-tunned my tv but it won't find a single channel. Am I missing something simple or is it bad news??? I'm not great on any tech issues, suggestions and help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What's on the other end of the wall socket?

There has to be an antenna because carriers here have encrypted all channels and you can't get reception on cable TV without the boxes.

Did you try a few antennas?

On the wall....

There are two cables coming out at the bottom of the wall which look like the Sky cables to go into the back of the box (I dont have a box, I don't have Sky). Further up the wall together there are two like conection points which again look like they take something like the Sky type leads. Next to those there is your usual ariel point. I have simply connected the normal male to male ariel lead from there into the tv. I presumed that with there being a normal ariel point it would be a case of just plugging in the ariel lead but it is finding no channels. There are ariel leads in the bedroom also which I'm yet to try, I presumed they will have the same result if tried. But again with those normal leads coming from the wall in the bedroom I presumed the ariel connections would work with no problems. I'm clearly missing something.

So it's unknown where the cables go to.

Answer
NO ARIEL!!!!!!

I'm gonna have to buy an ariel or use the two leads previously used through a Sky box. No ariel in the house just the two leads straight to the dish. Or any suggestions of a cheap alternative, to use these two leads without using a Sky box. Any decent options?
