move to mac

Aug 22, 2005 3:05AM PDT

I have spent some time convincing my wife we should move from PCs to Mac (tiger has her convinced)
I have a G3 iMac Jaguar and a XP pc she has a win 2000 laptop. (we are looking at a ibook,12 inch and a mac mini with super drive) We also have a Lacie NAS on our network (250gig) on which we store all our photos (11 gig). and backups

we can easily view them using Irfanview on any pc but I am unsure how we will do this with our new macs I would like to keep all our photos on the network and use iPhoto from all 3 machines is this possible.

Interesting concept.

However, I'm not sure that it would be possible in its present configuration.
For digital images to work in iPhoto they would have to be part of the digital library. This is normally accomplished by importing or adding to the library.
It should be possible to designate another place for the iPhoto database to be stored but that would probably only work for the one machine.
"Preview" would enable you to view all your images in their present location, in the same way as irfanview does now.
This is worthy of further research. Take a look at the Apple site/Support/Discussions/iPhoto and see what you can turn up
I'll be looking too

Sharing

To share library's in iPhoto, both users have to be logged onto their macs and their library's shared. A function within iPhoto.
I cannot find anything, on the Apple site, regarding your particular configuration
