Move Hard Drive

I have a new computer with Windows 7 DOWNGRADED to XP. Can I move my old hard drive from my old computer and add it to my new computer thus having my old files available?

Most can do that.

We have many solutions from putting it on some USB case adapter to inside the new machine and that's about it.

Be sure to not do this without a backup copy. Some forget backups and then the fun (not) stories begin.
