Move between 2 monitors via keyboard?

May 29, 2008 9:33PM PDT

I have a recently purchased iMac (20", Tiger OS) and I plugged in a second monitor. Works great. Can I move between the monitors via keyboard or must I use the mouse?

Thanks.

Extended Desktop.

Do you have an extended desktop?
If so, then there is no really no second screen to move to, it is all one huge desktop.

However, if you had two different applications running at the same time but on different sections of the extended desktop, then you could switch between each of them by holding down the Command Key and hitting Tab and choosing the other app from the Application switcher.

Is that what you mean?

Cmd Tab

Cmd-Tab. Yes that's exactly what I had in mind. In fact I didn't even think of that though I was aware of it. Duh.

I'm pretty new to the Mac so I'm not too up on what is extended desktop (just checked it out via Google). So frankly I don't know if I have it or not. I plugged an adapter into the mini-dvi port in the back of the iMac that in turn let me plug in my heretofore PC computer's second monitor (a 19" widescreen). All works great from the getgo, I can have a different desktop image on each but I can slide icons/aliases across each and they are all seen when i Finder the Desktop or look for a file on the desktop via application; it doesn't seem to matter which monitor the desktop icon is on, they are all listed in one Finder listing or via app's File Open menu, etc. I don't know if that's extended desktop but it definitely seems to extend my desktop. Happy

Nevertheless, the Cmd-Tab is exactly what I was looking for and didn't even think of it. Perfect, thank you!
