Moussaoui ferried away in dead of night

May 13, 2006 10:10AM PDT

Convicted al Qaeda conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui had no idea they were coming when federal marshals showed up in the middle of the night to take him to the nation's highest-security federal prison to begin serving his life sentence Saturday.

It was Friday night, shortly before midnight, when federal marshals showed up without notice at Moussaoui's holding cell in Alexandria, Virginia, said a U.S. Marshals Service official who requested anonymity because he is not a spokesman.

One bonus of a life sentence in Supermax is ...

... that there are no endless appeals, Free Mumia movements or Save Tookie vigils. Just languishing on in anonymity with no more opportunity through appeals to get the message out. No doubt some will try.

Unfortunately I think the man is ultimately too big a coward to off himself.

According to the reporter,

That the Mouse had been removed from his cell in VA and transported to supermax.

But don't ask the leaker to repeat what he didn't say.

... for obvious security reasons. After the fact it's not an issue nor is the fact that he's in the supermax now any secret.
