Question

Mouse tracking is too fast after switching to a new mouse

Apr 23, 2012 3:13AM PDT

I had an old Logitech wired mouse that wore out. The tracking/acceleration on it were perfect. Now that I'm using a new Logitech wireless mouse, the tracking/acceleration is much too fast. In the Mouse system preferences, the slowest setting is much too slow, but the next step up is much too fast. Anything beyond that is ridiculously fast.

I installed SteerMouse, which helped, but I still can't seem to get the acceleration exactly the same as it was. I would like to not have to use SteerMouse at all.

What I really want to know is what's causing my Mouse control panel to act that way, because I use two other Macs that don't behave that way when I plug in the new mouse. Is there some residual mouse extension somewhere in my System that never got uninstalled properly? Where would I look?
