My suggestion would be to try a PS/2-mouse or a USB-to-PS/2 adapter, so you can use the PS/2 port in your PC in stead of a USB-port. But that won't work in a laptop, since they usually don't have a PS/2-port.

- Do a USB keyboard and a USB flash drive work correctly?
- Does a wireless mouse with a USB-dongle correctly?
- Does a bluetooth mouse using the bluetooth receiver built in into your laptop work correctly?

I don't have a PS/2 mouse or adapter thing. Also, I have a desktop/stationary computer.

-Keyboard works along with USB's.
-Wireless mice don't work well too.
-Haven't tried bluetooth mice and don't have them.

I have some bad news.

I have an Intel NUC that is doing this. Looks like a hardware issue in the PC (NUC) since other OSes do the same. For the NUC this is bad news since there are no PCI or PCIe slots.

But your desktop might have an open PCI or PCIe slot you could install a new USB adapter card and save yourself a big repair bill.

PS. Be sure to answer Kees's questions about USB Flash drive, etc.

Sorry, I don't really understand in that stuff.
Can you tell me how to install a new USB adapter card?

Look at those videos and decide.

Not everyone wants to do this (easy for some) work.

Here it's just power down, unplug the power cord, open case, find open slot, install the card, close case, apply power and boot it up. Most USB cards work with Windows 10's supplied drivers so I don't do much more than this.

You can see others do this at https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+install+USB+PCIe+card+youtube

More Solutions?

Are there any other solutions?

Yes, but more work, usually much more expensive.

Once in a while the owner will insist the motherboard get replaced. This creates a lot more work. Hours instead of minutes and debatable if it's cheaper to get a new or refurb desktop.

The USB PCI or PCIe card is the smart fix.

What about something free? Like changing something in the computer settings or something? Grin

Usually not. Here's why.

By the time the owner has hit the shop counter they have done all that. Most have reloaded the OS, tried dozens of drivers and more.

This is why I'm chiming in with the 10 or less dollar fix (USB card) here. Taking the desktop or laptop to a service counter here has a min charge of 150USD $$$! So go ahead and try settings, drivers but for me, when it gets to me, it's 98% of the time ready for the cheap USB card.
