Mouse problem

Sep 3, 2007 4:05AM PDT

Basically, my mouse is malfunctioning and getting worse. I'm assuming this is a HID compliant mouse.

When I click on a menu, it fails to hold.
When I press page forward or backward, it moves two pages.
On things like spider solitaire, it will deal another hand twice, etc.

I've gone to device manager and it told me my drivers were up to date.

Yet, I feel somehow they have been corrupted.

Any input would be welcome.

If I uninstall the driver and unplug my mouse, I assume that the driver will automatically reinstall when I 1)restart the machine and 2) plug the mouse back in.

But, won't I have a problem doing so if I can't point and click the mouse to direct the computer to reinstall the driver?

Also, after I uninstall the driver, how will I shut down the computer, other than a forced shut down.

Obviously, I'm confused.

Thanks
