I note where you say you 'brought it in for some basic system maintenance'.
Any idea what that basic maintenance was? If it was physical maintenance like cleaning dust out or anything like that, then it shouldn't have caused this, but if it was 'file' and OS type maintenance, then I wonder if that could be reversed, either with System Restore or by the computer repairer himself.
For example, (and I am not saying the repairman did this), we know that using Registry Cleaners can often cause unwanted problems.

Hi,
We generally put our computer - which is running Windows XP - into standby mode when we're not using it during the day (I do shut it off at night, though, so it's not on all the time).
Yesterday I brought it in for some basic system maintenance. I also picked up a wireless mouse - one that is just plug and go - and plugged it in when we got the tower back.
Everything works fine EXCEPT that now I'm not able to wake the computer from standby with either the mouse or the keyboard. I have to push the power button on the tower, which reboots the computer entirely.
Plugging in the old mouse doesn't work either, as it also no longer 'wakes up' the computer.
I've checked all the settings in power options and for the keyboard and mouse. Everything that should be clicked - including the box that says "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" - is clicked, as far as I can tell.
I also checked the BIOS and everything seems okay there, as well, I think.
Any ideas on how I might fix this? The computer guy suggested we not use standby, but said I could bring it back in for him to check what's going on with the keyboard/mouse if I really wanted to.
But if there's some simple fix I can do myself, I'd rather give that a go.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!
