mouse help

i have recently just reformated a computer for a friend and after he took it home he now claims the mouse will not work tried a different mouse with no luck the mouse is pluged in the right slot. when i did the computer i installed all the updates the mouse was working great it has windows xp home edition installed. could any one give me any solutions on this problem..

...you'll need to install all drivers and software for all hardware..XP doesn't do that for you..If there was a particular type of software that went with the mouse, you'll need to install it..

Is it a USB mouse or PS2 mouse? Generally, PS2 mice/mouses/meece don't need any special software but the USB type might.

the mouse type is ps2 i checked all hard wear and everything is installed

I had a similiar problem with my sons computer and it was fixed by buying a serial mouse and using the seereial port. Hope your problem is easier but this may be a good next step.

I tried hooking it up to the com 1 and it still does not work.
