Dave, After A Format And Reinstall Of XP

...you'll need to install all drivers and software for all hardware..XP doesn't do that for you..If there was a particular type of software that went with the mouse, you'll need to install it..

Is it a USB mouse or PS2 mouse? Generally, PS2 mice/mouses/meece don't need any special software but the USB type might.

Hope this helps.

I had a similiar problem with my sons computer and it was fixed by buying a serial mouse and using the seereial port. Hope your problem is easier but this may be a good next step.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
