mouse connection

This may or may not be something you guys can help me with, but I thought I would start here. I was using an MX Revolution mouse, and I lost the usb thingy and am waiting for a replacement. so, I have been using a small corded mouse that has suddenly started taking it upon itself to suddenly jump to any random corner of the screen. Annoying, but ok.
Now, I get the MX in the mail(they sent me a complete replacement. looks like a new one, but could be a "refurbished", since it came from Logitech). It worked great for a day or so, and now is hanging up. I tried using different surfaces, but nothing worked. I tried reinstalling the software and software update, but it still does it. So, until I can replace it, I'm using the white MIghty Mouse(the little corded one was missing something on the bottom, so I can't use it anymore) and it's starting to hang up as well.
Is there an equivalent of a "mouse driver" that might have gone bad?

It's the small white MacBook

Yes there is,

but you will not be able to reinstall just the mouse driver, you will have to do what is known as an Archive and Install.

This procedure installs a new system onto your HD while preserving your settings and data.

It is done with the installation disk, or the restore disks that came with your machine, and is quite easy to do.

The mighty mouse does not like white surfaces but does well on dark brown. You didn't explain what the "hang up" actually is. Buttons, scroll button or tracking.

Now I've been having problems responding to you...anyway, the "hang up" is with the cursor, and it's pretty random. more scrolling back up than down.
and, of course, I don't have any "original discs". I was given the machine without any.

It is essential

to have a copy of the OS that you are currently running on that machine.

Without one, you are stuck with having nothing to sort out problems with. You cannot repair a disk from which you are booted and you cannot reinstall the system in the even of an HD failure. (They happen)

More importantly, you have nothing with which to fix this problem.

Leopard is still available from a number of places.
