Mouse and Keyboard don't work! Help!!

by misspelled / April 14, 2008 12:22 PM PDT

Some specifics:

* I have a Dell Dimension 4550
* Windows XP
* Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 4000 (Wireless keyboard and mouse)

I needed to restart my computer after an update. When it restarted, the mouse and keyboard refuse to work. I attempted to unplug and plug back in the receiver, changed the batteries, reset the connection and plug the receiver into a different USB port. Nothing worked. As a last resort, I tried to plug in my old mouse and keyboard, but these weren't working either.

How can I fix this problem when the computer won't recognize my mouse or keyboard? Any suggestions world be appreciated!
