Mounting 5.1 center channel speaker on Sony KDF-55WF655

Jul 25, 2005 5:23AM PDT

I have a Sony KDF-55WF655 and I want to mount my center channel speaker on the top of the TV. The speaker dimensions are 7.87"(W) x 4.21"(H) x 3.94"(D) and it's not too heavy. Has anyone found a center speaker mount that will work with this set? Thanks.

Center Channel
Jul 26, 2005 6:41AM PDT

I just got my KDF-55WF655 a few days ago, and have not yet hooked it up, as I want to get everything in order (OTA antenna, HD receiver, home theater system, etc.) before doing so.
I have seen a center channel stand that mounts on top of the LCD televisions, that is simply a flat surface. Google "speaker stand" and I think you will run across what I'm referring to. Cannot, though, vouch for its utility.
Also, I noticed on the setup at the Circuit City where I just bought mine that a small center channel speaker, such as the small center channel with the JBL or Athena Micra 6, will fit on the stand (if you also purchased the Sony SU-GW12 stand) just under the bottom center of the television.
Please post what you find for you center channel placement, as I am anticipating the same.
Thanks!!!

Sanus TVS center channel shelf
Jul 26, 2005 7:03AM PDT

Well, I have a different stand for the TV itself. It does have a shelf under the TV that I can place the center channel speaker on but I want it on top of the set, which is much closer to ear-level.

This might be what you are referring to:

I it and a few others like it. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows if it works with the KDF-55WF655 or similar? The back of the set is awfully steep...
