Question

Mountain Lion Drops Battery Life and Freezes Often

Aug 6, 2012 6:50PM PDT

I use MacBook Pro 13", 2011 edition. Since I installed Mountain Lion, my MBP's battery life drop from 7+ hours to roughly 5 hours. Worse still, it freezes about once a day. Does anybody else experience this? Got tips to troubleshoot these issues?

Given it's likely to be in warranty

Did you report this so you don't have to pay up?
Also, if there is an issue, that call may have them telling you what to do next.

As to battery times, it should be dropping all the time as the battery ages. If you use the battery daily you don't get much life.

Mac OX - Mountain Lion and battery life
Aug 10, 2012 11:32AM PDT

I have been running Mac OX Mountain Lion for sometime and I have not experienced any issues. I just upgraded my MacBook Pro from 4Gig to 8Gig and my computer is running fine and my battery life is better than before. You need to check what else is running on your computer in the current configuration

I haven't any problems with this. I don't think its the OS problem but the actual battery of your laptop.

The battery issue is known

The battery issue is known and supposedly Apple is looking into it. Usually that's just corporate speak for "we don't have a clue."

Thanks for that.

Since this just came out it appears the beta testers are going to find out more as more machines get this installed. Frankly I was clueless last week as an Apple owner had a similar complaint and I found an antivirus app on the Apple Mac OS X laptop. No, I don't know why that would do that but I wouldn't install such a thing.

Probable Closure on the Freezing Issue
Aug 19, 2012 9:45AM PDT

In trying to solve my MBP's freezing issue, I have tried these things:

1. Don't use "FreeMemory Pro" app
I purchased "FreeMemory Pro" app from App Store. Don't use it. Instead of solving the issue, it actually makes it worse. The memory cleaning process actually makes my MBP freezes quite often. I have uninstalled it after two days' use.

2. You may want to re-install the Mountain Lion
I'm not sure whether this actually helps (or why it works), but I re-downloaded and re-installed Mountain Lion and haven't experienced any freezing issue since then. It's been more than a week since I did the re-install and my MBP's been doing very well since then.

As for the battery life, I'm still stuck with 5 hours. I'll post again should I've found the answer.
