Mount a CD drive in Ubuntu

Hi guys,

Any idea how to mount a CD/DVD drive in Ubuntu (7.10 Feisty)?

1) mount -t cd9660 /dev/cdrw /mnt/cdrw

2)mount -t iso9660 -r /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

look in /etc/fstab for the device
what file systems are on it?
you need auto, udf, cd9660 to be in the list.

be sure to have all the codecs installed

1) mount -t udf /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd
2) mount -t udf,cd9660 /dev/dvd mnt/dvd
try the same with the other options.

Sorry for the delay. Actually I have a CD burner and a DVD drive.

click on PLACES>COMPUTER. Do you see the drives? If it's there then it's already mounted. In my case, I didn't have to mount them manually.

I can see the CD icon but when I double-click on it, it says "Unable to mount the selected volume"

Right-click on the icon; do you see "mount volume"? Click on that and see it that will work. If that doesn't work then there maybe an file system issue. Better yet..put a dvd movie in and see what happen.

I just put a DVD in and when I double-clicked on the icon, I got the same message.
