Motorola V300 volume problem

Mar 6, 2004 3:03PM PST

I got a Motorola V300 (T-Mobile) the other week. I am noticing that the volume on calls is Very weak even with the volume turned all the way up. Highway noise easily drowns out callers. In a bar or corwded place? No way. I'm suprised there aren't any more complaints on the reviews for it. Is there a software fix out there? Thanks.

Have you tried a headphone/mic unit with it?

I have not tried that yet. But my point is that you should still be able to hear someone using the phone the normal way, right? Thanks.

I agree, very upset with quality of phone volume. I can hear my girlfriends phone in another room on full volume but I cannot hear my own phone shoved against my ear! Cheap crappy phone, I am also on my second and now am convinced I want a damn refund, or an upgrade. I have resorted to using headphones only for the last 4 months, because I can no longer hear a single word through the earpiece. From day one it had a very very low volume and it got progressivly worse. I will be contacting them today. Not to mention I have connection issues, dropped calls and other BS!

Obviously, a headset would work fine.

But, that reply is simply offensive

I said "hold on, let me switch to speakerphone I can't hear you" and the lady calling me said "oh, you must have one of those little blue motorllla phones".

I have the same issue. I am on my second unit: the first unit seemed to get better over time, but my current one has not improved and is horribly soft. It does indeed work well with a headset, or even on speaker phone, but the regular speaker is bad.

There is a way to edit the volume of the Vxxx series phones, but it can be a complicated process because it involves buying a data cable & using a program called p2kmanager(p2kman) to download the file from the phone that's responsible for the volume levels(gain_table.bin), editing it ,then uploading it back. There's lots of information on doing this on howardforums.com in the motorola forum.

I had the same problem. I just called T-Mobile and they replaced my phone, no problems at all. I had a new phone within days.

Motorola V300 volume problems

I purchased a Motorola V300 in April of 2004. The sound quality was acceptable although not loud until November/December when the volume level started to degrade to the point where it was almost impossible to hear - especially with a noisy background.
At any rate the phone was sent to a repair depot (which took 3 weeks) and the "flex cable" was replaced. Now about 2 months later it is starting to do the same thing all over again.
Very frustrating!
