motorola mpx220: how to mod?

by jersey / January 5, 2005 5:44 AM PST

Does anybody know how to modify the mpx220? Some things I would like to do: >>change the default set of icons that show at the top of the screen when phone is first powered up; >>display the day of the week (i.e. Monday,Tuesday, etc) above the date; >>ability to increase volume above what toggle button will generate (so I can hear if in a noisy environment); >>brighten screen/increase contrast/whatever (so that screen can easily be read outdoors on a sunny day . . . . Probably more, but that's a start. Thanks.

motorola mpx220: how to mod?
by vertaynes / January 7, 2005 10:56 AM PST

This phone has great features, except sound and Outlook 2003 conflicts. What good is a speakerphone or phone if you can't hear on it? So to fix the sound I think you will have to replace the phone itself.
The Icons at the top are controlled by your recent documents.
To change date format press - start, more, settings, more, more, regional, long date style.
To adjust contrast press
start, more, settings, more, more, phone settings (0-1 best for sunny days)

Hope this will help

Default Icon set
by jersey / January 10, 2005 4:44 AM PST

icons at top... yes, the icon list is affected by applications as they are launched. What I would like to do is change the "default" icon set (ex: take off solitare and replace it with something else more useful to me <like call history> and that be in the default set whenever the phone is booted. Can that be done? (I have a data cable + active synch program and am comfortable with registry and other tweaks). Thanks.

Date Format

I'm not sure that we have the same menu structure. To get to the date settings, I do: Start>More>Regional Settings and then I can select short+long date styles. I have the long date style with the day of the week selected BUT how do I get the day to display on the home screen in the blank area above the date? Is there an option to select either the short or long date on that screen? If the two lines were broken up into 4 quadrants, my phone displays (left->right, top->bottom): Cingular, blank, 3:55pm (current time), 1/10/2005 (short date). Instead of a blank, I would like that "cell" to display Monday (day of week associated with date). Thanks.

Contrast Settings
by jersey / January 10, 2005 5:03 AM PST

My "Ex LCD Contrast" is already set to 0 but the screen cant be read outside on a sunny day. I'm wondering, would white letters on a solid black background or black letters on a solid white background provide better contrast? If so, any ideas on how this could be done? Thanks.
