Motorola CPEi 23825 Wimax modem slow download speed problem

Aug 13, 2011 11:28PM PDT

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER"> I have a Motorola CPEi 23825 Wimax modem. When this modem is directly connected to my desktop computer running Windows 7, I get normal download speed. However, when I connect the modem to a wireless router and connect my desktop computer either wireless or by cable to the router the download speed drops down to only 25% of the normal speed. I replaced the Linksys router with a D-Link but I still get the same result. What seems to be causing this? Are the wireless router not compatible with the Motorola modem? If this is the case can anyone please tell what brand and model of wireless router that is compatible? Help please.

You didn't tell what normal speed is.

There is some overhead over the router and wifi so I can't tell from this discussion if that's it.

For a test try it with an Ethernet cable to the PC and the radio in the router disabled.
That test will determine what I would do next.

Modem download speed problem
Aug 15, 2011 12:18AM PDT

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER"> Hi Bob,
<div><span id="INSERTION_MARKER">Thank you so much for the reply. I have just uncovered the cause of the slowdown. The radios of the modem and the wireless router were probably interfering with each other because they were so closed together (only 1 ft. apart). The speed is now okay after relocating the modem about three meters away from the router.
