Motion Blur with Samsung DLP HL-T5075S

by Crazy Germans / January 23, 2008 7:58 AM PST

I recently bought a new Samsung HL-T5075S HDTV. It was kind of an impulse buy on black friday when they sold out of the TV that I really wanted. So I've been noticing that there seems to be a big motion blur on my TV. This especially frustrates me because I use my TV mainly with my Xbox 360 and the blur screws up everything. I'm not extremely tech savvy and can't seem to figure out the problem on my own.

Here are the tech specs:

Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on, or has anyone had a similar problem with a similar TV. PLEASE, I NEED HELP.

Thank you.

Motion Blur.

First of all, there will always be some blur. You can eliminate a lot of it by tweaking your picture settings. The main one that you would want to bring down would be your "Sharpness." Bring this down to at least 1/3 of it's max. Also, bring down the levels that make your TV bright. Brightness, Contrast. Actually, just get to your picture settings and play with them and get them to your liking, but turn that Sharpness level waaaaay down. I hope this helps.

Good luck.

I didn't notice that.

I had this TV a few weeks ago, but I replaced it with a Samsung's LED DLP after I was convinced that it was a better investment considering amazon was throwing them away for virtually the same price.

I didn't notice any motion blur at all. Here's a few tips for you:

1. You should connect the 360 to your TV over an HDMI cable instead of component. If you're using the composite (yellow) cable, we've got a lot to discuss...

2. Samsung DLPs have a "Game Mode" feature that supposedly enhances gameplay. Try activating that by pressing the 'mode' key near the bottom of the TV remote.

3. Compare the image using the same system, game, and cable on a different T.V. Does the motion blur still exist?

DLPs should all but eliminate motion blur. If it's a general blur, it could be you setup. You aren't using composite cable, right?

Composite.... No way

no I'm definately hooked up with component cables. The only reason that I haven't switched to HDMI is the fact that I have one the 360's from launch that doesn't have an HDMI port.

But as to the post previous to yours I will try turning down the sharpness level. maybe it'll help, thanks.

I'll post back if I figure something out.
