Question

Motherboard replacement.

My son has an ibuypower gaming pc but the motherboard warped. Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 - 1.0 - motherboard - ATX - LGA1155 Socket - Z68. Looking for an upgrade not sure what I'm looking for any info will help. Thanks

Just warped? I'd let it be if it works.

I wonder if the motherboard mounting was done incorrectly. Changing the motherboard usually invalidates the Windows OS license so you are out another 100+ unless you run Linux.

that will fit the newer motherboard. Of course used parts on a non working computer is always suspect.

Part two. So dead, just how dead?

I've recovered so many machines over the years with small things like replacing the CMOS battery to pulling the motherboard out on cardboard to make a small as possible PC out of the case.

Just how dead is it?

Unless you want to spend some serious money you might want to shop around for an exact match.

Change the mobo to a different brand or socket type and your going to open a can of worms.
