Question

Motherboard Replacement

Apr 11, 2017 8:48AM PDT

The motherboard on my Acer laptop has died and I've been searching online for a replacement. However, I'm unable to find an exact match. Most of the ones I see have slightly different serial numbers and different CPUs. I was wondering if it were safe to buy one with slightly different RAM/CPU or does every detail have to match?

My laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-511-C3DF with an Intel Celeron N2840 processor...on the back of the laptop is says "RMN: Z5WAL" but I'm not sure if that's relevant

Thanks,
Shane

Laptop motherboards are like that.

Try Acer next. The problem is this looks to cost more than the entire laptop is worth. That is, I think we have a N2840 based laptop in the spares area and it was 150USD for the entire laptop. Repair is not economical on low cost machines.

best check with acer

there are sometimes differences with oem motherboards because of laptop manufacturers requirements. In most cases, the model number must be the exact match. it would be best to get with acer if you need a new one.
