" i only asked HOW to find out what my motherboard, like is there a simple control panel option or ..."

Your subject title was why I noted it was unlikely to be a dual P4.

Microsoft does NOT offer such a report. Some want it and some have tried to avoid opening the case to visually identify the board prior to updating a BIOS. Those usually end up buying a new board.

Of course if your PC is some HP/Compaq, then the outside model number is important.

Aida32 was also noted.

I'd agree with Bob, make sure it's really dual CPUs, and not just HyperThreading making the OS think there's two CPUs. Because chances are, if you bought a dual CPU system, you built it yourself and would know what motherboard you have in it. I'm not aware of any major name brand that offers any SMP configurations on their home system lines.

After that, just email whoever made your system with the model number and ask them what the motherboard is. You'll probably get a big 2-page response of useless information, but somewhere in there will be the make and model of your motherboard.

Do a search on aida32. Useful tool for evaluating most everything on your system.

Go to where you purchased your system from, they can tell you what M/B is installed. Dual CPU's = hyper threading.

it is a good utility and even gives links to manufacturer and downloads. Glad it helped. Someone in this site recommended it to me.
