Question

Mother Board in New Build

Dec 28, 2014 2:17AM PST

I am completing my first computer build and need help in determining if my mother board is bad. After I was complete, the computer would turn on and immediately shut down. all lights worked, fans worked but shut down.
Right now, I have it stripped down to one stick of RAm , audio wires and power switch wire, as well as 20+4 power cable. It still turns on and immediately shuts off.

Thanks David

Since it's your first built, I am going to ask...

a couple question but please don't feel defensive. You use those brass standoff that came with the chassis? Some board have holes for mounting but some holes are plastic standoff. So be sure to use the proper one. Do the cardboard thing as bob b pointed out. Hope nothing has been damage. Good luck.

thanks for your response. No offense taken, it would be an easy mistake to make. I am using the brass standoffs that came with the MB.Waiting to get new PSU to test since that seems to be the cheapest and easist . I'll update tommorow.
Thanks

The pins look good. The CPU drops into place without any resistance and locks down easily,

I knew you would ask this question. I think I know what he's thinking. In the old day, motherboard don't need these plug. By the way, what mobo. do you have?
