Hi, Phil; Sounds as if what the first tech noted was "cosmetic" damage to the rotor. He was probably wise to note it, "just in case". The second tech, maybe, wasn't as particular? Like anything else, ask two people a question and you'll probably get two answers. Just for 'peace of mind', you could take the vehicle to someone you know and trust for a third (and final) opinion. I've seen many rotors rust and pit from certain areas (coastal, areas where salt is used on the roads) and still be safe, but worth noting for the customer.
Good luck.

Hi,
Last year at my car's MOT I had this advisory,
"Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened corroded inner faces (3.5.1i)"
Anyway, I never did anything about it and this year I was away from home and took the car to another garage for MOT but had no advisories at all.
Can somebody tell me why this would happen and should I get anything done about it.
Thanks
Phil
