Morphix Linux

Morphix is a Live CD distribution of Linux with XFCE, KDE, or Gnome. I use it mainly because it has not crashed once for me. It comes with all sorts of other stuff, games, OpenOffice, etc. That's what morphix is.

I'm far from an expert, but a live CD's performance on your computer generally is a good indicator of how the distro will perform from the hard drive.

I would stay away from KDE with so little RAM, personally. It is nice looking and has lots of features if you have a desktop, but it is the most resource hungry desktop environment.

You might also want to look at puppy linux or damn small.
