More Questions about Adobe

by littlebit1000 / February 26, 2008 11:56 PM PST

I have now sucessfully installed Adobe 8 along with flash player Active X and the new shockwave player, everything seems to be working good, but now in my programs I have noticed that I also have "getPlus(R)_ocx", and after I installed the newer adobe I checked for updates and it said there was an update to be installed..so I did the update...now I have Spelling Dictionaries Support for Adobe 8 listed in my programs as well. Do I need these programs or is it best to remove them? I don't like having unnessasary programs running in the background if I don't need them.
Thanks
Liz

You Can Remove Them Both If You Want..

Where in "My Programs" do you see the "getPlus(R)_ocx". It's probably part of the "Get Flash" ACtiveX control that is installed in "C\Windows\Dowloaded Program Files". It's not a required ActiveX control.

Likewise for the Spelling Dictionaries support item. On the other hand, I leave it because it provides spell check support for Adobe Reader documents. You can now spell check in 32 languages. To use the dictionaries within Acrobat Reader, go to the top menu and choose Edit-Preferences-Spelling and select the dictionary you want to use. It's your choice.

Hope this helps.

In reply to: I see

"getPlus(R)_ocx" appears to be part of the technology behind the Adobe Download Manager. (If you've also got the "Adobe Download Manager" installed, you can remove that as well.)

Hope this helps.
