More memory

May 21, 2004 12:35AM PDT

I still don't quite understand what is the benefit of more memory. I just got a new computer and it has 512 gig of memory, 120 gig of hard drive, and 2.7 gig processor. But I noticed there are 3 empty slots for more memory. Will more memory make my computer better or faster? Or just exactly what benefit it would be to install more memory? Thanks

There is no reason to add more.

He is right, you don't need more memory for applications, even games.
A few things more memory will do for your computer
such as make it look more powerful on paper.
It will add a little bit of performance, but the more drastic stuff will be a transition from, for example 128 Mb to 512 Mb (which is what you have). So you can add more memory, but you really don't need more memory.
