Monster Power Centers

Just purchased 40" 1080P LCD panel TV. Salesperson (not on commission) strongly suggested Monster Power center to prevent electronic flucuations and noise to TV. He stated that this type of "dirty" electricity decreases picture quality over the life of the TV. He suggested that I protect the investment that I have in my entire system - LCD + surround system =$5K.
What do you think?
Where's the research to justify this information?

Thanks in advance for your help!
