Resolved Question

Monitors go black on the login screen and one stops working.

Jun 1, 2019 8:32AM PDT

Windows boots fine, and during the login screen both go black, one stops working and the seconds one's fine, I did a full reinstall of windows, formatting the ssd and reinstalling windows, reinstalled all the drivers needed. I'm out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.
Here's a speccy : https://ufile.io/wepc7fx7
EDIT: I'm planning to switch the motherboard to a B450 Tomahawk, buy a 2x8GB DDR4 3200 Vengeance ram, get a new cpu (Ryzen 5 2600) and a new ssd, the Corsair Force MP510 NV.ME. Would doing that possibly fix the problem? I also have a new gpu shipping right now, the Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8GB

When I open that I get TWO SPECCY REPORTS.

So I'll have to know if this is the i7 with two monitors or the Ryzen 3 with the single old 1024x768 Flatron.

As to the switch question, my answer is: Unlikely to fix this.

Flatron

It's the flatron, if it's unlikely to be a fix, what's the problem, are the monitors just too old? I plan on replacing those as well. And it's not a single flatron, there's also a no name brand monitor connected, it has "Scott" in blue written on it. The scott one is the one that stops working after a black screen.

What happens if you connect just one monitor in stead of two? Try both monitors on both video ports that you use now (that are 4 reboots in total).

How is the Winkey+P setting for the two monitors (extend, duplicate, only PC, only projector)? Which settings work and which don't when you connect both monitors?

Test

I did all you said, and found out something new. Once I put the pc to sleep and wake it back up, both monitors start working. Connecting only one monitor works fine on both ports with both monitors. winkey+p every setting works but it's on extend.

So both monitors work after sleep/wake-up, but only one works after boot.

That surely points to a driver, either a wrong one or a missing one, or maybe the BIOS isn't the latest. Maybe your new card with a new driver works fine.

Sounds like driver issues too.

But if you can't identify your monitor such as "Scott" with blue then it can be that no one else can as well. VGA was full of nonsense about that. I know folk will try to recycle what they have but at some point it's cranky and you can't get it to work you go with current hardware to fix it.

The GPU driver looks current. Did you do research about the GTX 750 BIOS? I can't do that for you. This is you and your card maker.

Thing is, it worked fine before.

I used everything same, the monitors, the card on my old setup. An ASUS P5KC mobo, goodram ddr2 6gb ram, and an Intel Xeon E5450 cpu. I have no idea why it doesn't work now, but once my gpu arrives I'll stop using the scott one anyways as VGA is unsupported on the RX 580

Lost the recipe, changed cables, etc.

Means the recipe to get it working was lost. Most of us forget that when it's working then a change happens and we're hunting down what we did before.

But VGA is just weird at times. Sometimes I have to hardwire a pin like you see at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inYukzSUprM

I've seen this happen too many times and this applies to non-Samsung as well. I'm not saying this is it but with VGA, I find it's hit and miss now.

Or you didn't use the same VGA cable as before.
