Most of the Dell computers come with a "Resources CD" which contains the drivers for your various hardware items. Clearly, you're having problems with the video and audio drivers and maybe you need the monitor driver as well. If you were not supplied with the drivers CD, you can check the DEll site for your model's drivers. Be sure of which drivers you need by checking the Device Manager for you hardware versions. (RIGHT click on "My Computer", choose "Properties", select the "Hardware" tab, then click on the "Device Manager" button. When that loads, click on the + sign next to the "Display" tab for your video card and driver versions. Click on the + sign next to "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" and find your video card listing... Download the new drivers and install them.
Hope this helps.
I have recently re-installed WIN XP/PRO but now I cannot use my audio and I cannot change the resolution on my monitor. My Monitor says to to cgange the resolution but the "VGA" driver will not let me change anything and says that this is the default configuration for the monitor. I cannot update the driver as well.
