Monitor shows loss of signal on bootup

Nov 5, 2004 4:06PM PST

I have an LCD, DVI input monitor. I have had it since i bought it from gateway about 6 years ago now. Since the beginning When I booted up, I could not see DOS or anything going on on the monitors screen until Windows popped up, either the win98 load screen or the WinXP logon screen. Im on my second computer and im wondering since no one at gateway or at my new computer ( alienware ) can explain, do i just not see DOS because its a digital display with the digital input? Also, when i plug in a regular CRT to the analog, I see DOS fine, i have yet to try another DVI LCD, but very few people have them that i've seen, even though i've had mine for so long.
