It appears the "red output" of your monitor has failed for whatever reason. I suggest you at least reseat the video cable and inspect those pins aren't bent, pushed-in or otherwise damaged. Then google for some monitor test pattern to output a test display. The test display will be a more defining test to check all colors and levels, etc. If you see the test fails then, then you have a decision, either replace monitor or repair. You should also at least swap monitor to another system to check output there. If it remains bad, then do the above. In most cases, repairs exceed or come close to what a replacement monitor will cost new or find a decent used one.

The usual. Bent pin or dead gun/circuit.

Always look at the connector for BENT PINS. Next test on another machine.

Pins missing?
Apr 22, 2005 8:43AM PDT

Um............did you by chance move the computer recently and/or disconnect and reconnect the monitor cable from the video output device on the back of the tower? If not, those missing pins were probably never there in the first place. Not all monitors will have and/or use all of the pins a in a D style subconnector.

Yeah, i saw that there are supposed to be a few pins missing (like the D you mentioned) but there are another few that have actually been broken off

Cheers anyway
