Monitor Problem_?

Apr 4, 2004 7:42AM PDT

Hello:

My computer is constantly freezing. Sometimes, when it freezes, green lines appears at the top of the monitor. Also if I'm working in a window that has blue and grey colors (for example), when it freezes, all the monitor shows vertical blue and grey lines.

While it was in the technician the computer did not freeze. I thought that this problem was related to a damaged RAM, but neither I nor the technician knows exactly what the problem is. Could be that the monitor is not working well? Because the only difference was that while it was in the technician it has other monitor.

Thank you,
Amy

Or the machine was up on a bench top with all the fresh air and running cooler.

Try this. Pull the case cover off the machine, point a fan at it and see if it's better.

...I'll try that...I forgot to write that the monitor has a rare "beep" or squeak when windows is loading (when the black screen and white words appear). Is this normal?

Thank you

The 'squeak' was probably the 'POST' and BIOS coming on. How did you know it was from the monitor ?

Try updating the video card driver. Also, check the monitor cable connectors and the ports-- are they 'seated' properly ? Pins can be bent or dirt get into those holes...
