Question

Monitor on HVR Z5U

Feb 23, 2014 3:00AM PST

The flip up monitor (screen) on my camera doesn't work. I bought it from a friend and he doesn't have a clue as to the problem. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? Also any idea of cost to repair?

Thanks.

Answer
The repair rates are often as much as replacement costs.

This appears to be a near 4 thousand dollar device so it's time to contact Sony repair and get an estimate.

PS. Looking around.

I see folk make add on screens that connect to HDMI on this camcorder. For about 500 bucks it may be cheaper than repair. But the brutal truth about such expensive gear is that you want it to be in warranty and pay each year to keep it in warranty. Otherwise you learn why folk tell you to keep in under warranty.

Frankly? I'd ask for a refund and go shopping again.
