Resolved Question

Monitor Issues. (Generic PnP Monitor)

Dec 22, 2011 9:49AM PST

I have an HP Pavilion Slimline desktop computer (s3720y model number) and I have had it for a few years. It came with an HP w1907 monitor. (Standard 17" monitor from HP.) I have some form of NVIDIA graphics, whatever came stock with it.

HP monitors can be problematic, I can't recall if that model was one of them. Turning white isn't the usual problem most face but rather black. Mount the monitor elsewhere and check results. If it remains with monitor you have a bad one. Also, check the cables be sure they're not bent or pushed-in. Further, boot into "safe mode" and check to see if the display remains up and running, even though lesser resolution, just a test to see if it runs for a longer period. of course, the other half of this is the video card or port.

I actually solved the problem. Apparently there was a monitor driver that auto installed when I used the built-in system restore. (Which I did not this time..)
