Monitor is dark

Oct 2, 2004 2:00AM PDT

My laptop monitor recently went black while I was working on it. I can barely see the desktop, its there but very dark. Its as if the light went out. I can plug a monitor into the back and the computer works fine. I just cannot use the monitor on the laptop.

Is this something that is going to be expensive to get repaired?

Sounds like the back lighting went out on the screen, it is probalby cheaper top buy a new laptop than fix it.

Are you certain that you didn't accidently hit a brightness control that turned down the brightness on the laptop monitor?

I don't know much about laptops (God I wish I had one), but don't some have a slider type control to adjust the brightness? Could it have been pushed as you moved your hand across the keyboard for some reason?

Just a thought.....

Yes - its definitely not the brightness control. It does seem like the light is just not turned on, maybe like the other guy mentioned.
