Monitor doesn't wake up from sleep mode intermittently

by gotylergo / August 11, 2010 11:59 PM PDT

I just put together a computer about a month ago, and I've been having a problem getting video to display on my monitor. The main problem is that it's so intermittent. The parts are slightly over a month old and out of return policy as such, but all under warranty. I'm not sure what the source of the problem could be, but I believe it may be the video card.

Video - ATI Radeon HD 5700 series
CPU - Intel Core i7 940
Monitor - LG flatron w2240t
Connection - DVI

I was originally using a VGA cable with a DVI converter but I switched that out and the problem occurred again. I have run PC check on all hardware including the video card and all passed. Updated drivers to no avail. All the fans and hard drive indicators and everything come on, but the monitor just continues to sit in sleep mode with no indication that the PC was turned on.
