Monitor Discolouration

Jun 30, 2006 2:59AM PDT

Hi all,

My desktop has a Samsung SyncMaster 997DF (19" CRT). I have a KVM switch with two pc's using this monitor. Just this week, the colour seems to be gone on it. It is only 2.5 years old. All of the white areas (on webpages, documents, etc.) are now yellow-ish. I have checked the monitor's colour settings and nothing has been changed. Could the monitor be shot after only 2.5 years? This concerns me (although may give me the opportunity to get that 24" widescreen LCD I've been eyeing....hehe).

Any ideas what may have happened? Is this a common symptom of a shot tube? It may have something to do with the KVM switch, although I've had no problems for months with it. I'll try just plugging the monitor into one of the pc's to check.

Thanks for any help!!

Sounds about right.

The CCFT tubes can dim or discolor after that much time. Such can be replaced but at what cost?

Did you try it on another machine?

Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the help. I did try unplugging it from the switch and tried it on both machines directly. Same symptoms. Oh well, such is life I suppose.
24" widescreen here I come!

Thanks again
