Monitor Calibration software issues with OS 10.5.8 & 10.6.4

Jul 7, 2010 4:57AM PDT

i have both a Macbook 2.13 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB 800MHz DDR SDRAM with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (VRAM 256 MB);
and an
iMac 27", 3.33GHz Intel Core Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, with ATI Radeon HD 4850 Graphics card (VRAM 512 MB)
Running Photoshop CS4 to edit images for photography business.
Purchased DATACOLOR SPYDER3 Studio Calibration kit----
Calibrated both monitors and now what i see as i am editing IS what i get when output to print, on my Canon PIXMA pro9500, and when i send out to have printing done.
But on the Macbook, the utility that monitors ambient light randomly quits (Spyder3 Utility).
And on the IMac when i click on the toolbar, top icon for the Spyder Utility to adjust the preferences for how often to sample ambient, to remind me to recalibrate,etc. ( i want to set to remind me monthly to recalibrate).
the pop up window locks up on the desktop, none of the buttons in the pop up window will respond, and i have to force quit the application or use the keyboard RETURN key to close the pop up window.
i just purchased the iMac within a couple weeks and the Datacolor Calibration kit within the last month, had the Macbook just over a year. without calibration the print output would not do, i just did a 56 employee portrait shoot for a company and only got good results after calibrating the laptop to direct connect to camera as i shoot, and iMac to do final editing.
If anyone has had experience with this software/ equipment situation, i would sincerely appreciate feedback.
Thank You
