monitor: area +/- 5 cm column grey lines

Hiya,

I have a DELL 1905FP monitor with NVIDIA Gforce 6800 card. Since a few days, I have the following problem with my screen:

A column of about 5 cm wide, top-bottom of my screen, starts showing many vibrating black lines (some kind of distortion it seems) every time a move a white or very lightly colored window into that area.

I think it is not the graphics card or a specific driver as I hooked up the screen to another PC and had the same problem.

Anybody has an idea what is causing this and how I might solve it?

Tried Swapping In A Known 'Good' Monitor?

If exchanging monitors shows the known good monitor has no problems, then you know the culprit.. A new monitor may be in order.
