Ask your machine's builder for a single rail to overcome that issue.
Hi . Sometimes when I play games all of sudden my monitor loses signal and keyboard also...mouse doesnt. I have to do a hard reboot to get back. Is this a psu issue , cpu overheating ? or something else maybe . Pretty new pc . amd fx 6350 with stock cooler . gtx 650 ti, 500 watt power supply, . I am installing a water cooler tomorrow . I had already ordered one before this started happening . Just wondering If maybe someone here has ever had this issue ..ty very much
Getting a water cooler is good idea as CPUs do run hot - it's a good investment. I looked at your video card specs and noticed it requires a 400w PSU, so your existing 500w should be fine in my opinion.
Can you provide us more details about the problem? What happens exactly when the system freezes? Do you get any error messages right before your monitor loses the signal? Does it just go out (dark)? Are there any LEDs on the monitor that stay on? How can you tell the mouse doesn't lose signal? Do you see the cursor on the monitor?
Sorry for all the questions Shotz45, but I think it could be something else, perhaps the memory? I've had my system crash on me while playing games because of bad memory sticks, or incorrect virtual memory settings. If you can reboot your system, run the Window Memory Diagnostic program, just to ensure your memory is fine.
last time it happened I was in bf4 beta and went to change video settings from low to medium...Might be a beta thing but It is exactly what happened in cod bo2 . I uninstalled bo2 because I got a error message that it was slowing down my boot time , even though I have msconfig configured to not run it. might be a ghost error message . I have Played a couple hours of the bf4 beta this evening with no problems. what other details do you need about my system? I will post back next time it happens .
Could be a BF4 beta issue. Here is the link to their beta/support site, specifically the "known issues": http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/IMPORTANT-Updated-11-10-BF4-Beta-Known-Issues/td-p/1600897
Good to know you're memory isn't the issue. Have you updated all your drivers? (especially for the GPU?)
Back to the PSU: you could invest in a more powerful unit, it won't hurt trying and will help in the long run, anything in the 550 to 650w range is what I recommend.
