Molly Wood: The New Kate Botello

Feb 10, 2006 2:15AM PST

I say Molly is the new Kate Botello of the Tech World. That is, the new KB without the Ethel Merman or Judy Garland impersonations.

Wait a minute...Molly, sing a couple bars of "Anything you can do, I can do better..."

Molly vs. Kate
Feb 10, 2006 4:25AM PST

Molly IS in a league of her own, but remember that when The Screensavers debuted, Kate was a trailblazer. She won awards and was nationally recognized, and was entertaining for the newbie techies. That is a big deal in broadcastland. I will listen to Leo, John C., Patrick, Woz, et al. Most wouldn't.

My point is that whether or not I was into this stuff, I would listen to Molly Wood. I don't always agree with her (just mostly), but she is damn entertaining. Botello was too, just check out the Judy Garland off-broadway bit she did (the video is floating around the net).

Kate is in Michigan with her hubby doing web dev stuff. See http://www.traversecitywebdesign.com/

There is a Molly Wood in my son's class at school. A very, very bright 2nd grader with long dark hair.

Any similarity?

Can she power-rant about DRM enough to make Sony execs pee their pants? Happy

too young to be sure

But give her time. If she's anything like her older sister (who was recognized by one of the local TV stations as one of 13 outstanding young people in our area, for the number of organizations she volunteers to help, while only in 4th grade), she'll probably give our Molly a run for her money.

Molly is Molly, Kate is Kate

I don't think the comparison is fair. Kate Botello was great when she was on. To this day, I miss her. I keep wondering when TWiT is going to have her on as a guest.

Molly, don't get jealous. You are great, too. They do different things, are in different media. I think that it is a bit unfair to both to try and compare them.
